
John Scot Mueller founded Granite Development, LLC, as a subsidiary to our holding company Relleum, Inc. which he formed in 1986. Since its inception, Relleum, Inc. and its affiliate companies have been involved in a number of land development projects in Naples, Florida and Port Huron, Michigan.
Canadian by birth, a U.S. citizen since 1962, Mr. Mueller is a fourth generation descendant of the founders of the Mueller Company, an international corporation well known as a manufacturer of water and gas distribution products. The Mueller Company is the world’s largest manufacturer of fire hydrants. The Mueller family sold the Mueller Company in 1986. Upon the sale of the company, Mr. Mueller relocated from the San Francisco Bay area to Naples, Florida. He established Relleum, Inc. (Mueller spelled backwards) shortly thereafter. Granite Development, LLC, is operated from the Relleum, Inc. corporate headquarters in Naples.
Mr. Mueller holds a Masters Degree in Marketing from Michigan State University and is a graduate of the Michigan State University Business School.
Granite Development’s projects are completed by our affiliate company Granite Construction Limited (GCL). GCL is managed by Greg Wardeberg, a 16 year employee of Relleum, Inc.. Mr. Wardeberg is a graduate of the College of Engineering at Michigan State University and is a state certified general contractor in the state of Florida and a licensed residential builder in the state of Michigan.
